🌱🩷: here is something for thr Crossdresser!Yn AU. I have been so depressed ever since I saw the leaks for the new JJK chapter... this is kind of helping me to get my mind off of it. Hope u like it🩷

Warnings: Reader uses she/her. In the story the boys will be using he/him when addressing Yn. Requests for this series are open.

"Are you...are you sure about this?" Anri asked the striker in front of her while Ego sat on his chair, eating his noodles.

"I think it's for the best, Teieri-san. To not waste money on manufacturing something that won't sell well." (Y/n) argued, confused as to why the older woman was so reluctant with agreeing. After all, the JFU would probably embrace the idea of saving money.

"Yeah, but... just 15? (Y/n), you know you do have fans-"

"I think that's for the best. I definitely don't have Isagi or Rin's popularity, so I don't think my figurine will sell well. Please spare me this humiliation, Teieri-san, Ego-san. " (Y/n) explained as she held the prototype of her figurine that Anri gave her. It was nothing special, just a smaller version of her smiling in the Blue Lock uniform. There was a short silence as the striker looked at the two for a moment, hoping they will do her this one favor.

"I can't just-"

"Fine." Ego interrupted Anri, both now looking at the man.

"You did prove to be a great player and so far hid your identity very well. So we will grant you this one wish." Ego said as he finished his food. (Y/n) looked at him in shock for a moment, but then smiled and bowed.

"Thank you. Thank you, Ego-san." She kept repeating to the man, who just nodded his head. Anri looked nervously between the duo, wondering how all of this will end up.

"It's so weird seeing merch of myself." (Y/n) mumbled to herself as she walked to the bedroom she shared with Isagi, Rin, and Bachira. She chuckled a little, already knowing she will be greeted by Rin doing his usual yoga, and Isagi and Bachira messing around. And sure enough, when she opened the door she saw just that. Bachira and Isagi were telling jokes while Rin tried to hide his irritation while doing his normal yoga routine.

"(Y/n)! Where were you?! I need my hug buddy!" Bachira exclaimed as he saw the girl enter their room and lunged at her.

"Bachira, wait!" She shrieked as the boy ran to and engulfed her into a hug, nearly causing the girl to fall down. The girl stumbled back, but thankfully grabbed onto a wall to not injure himself or something.

'Bachira might not look like much, but God is he strong.'

"Hey, Bachira, could you maybe let go of me?" (Y/n) asked nervously.

"Nope~" The bicolored boy sang out, causing her the sigh and pat him on his back a few times. Meanwhile, Rin and Isagi were sending death glares at Bachira's back. Both were mad that he was the one to hug (Y/n) first, but also for causing her to nearly fall down.

"Bachira, let go of him." Isagi spoke up finally and went to grab Bachira's shirt, pulling the boy away from (Y/n).

"Hey!" The boy protested.

(Y/n) internally thanked Isagi for giving her the free space back.

"I will hug you later, Bachira. I am just really tired right now." She spoke up, trying to stop their argument, but neither was listening.

Rin, on the other hand, was staring at the trio in anger. Not only were they causing him a ruckus, but (Y/n) also said she will hug Bachira later.

'That mediocre player really doesn't deserve it.' He rolled his eyes, but then they landed on a small item on the floor. One he never saw before in his life.

Rin walked over and picked it up, only to discover that it was a small figurine of (Y/n).

When Bachira hugged her, she ended up losing her grip on the item, and neither her or the other two noticed it.

'What is this? And why does it look like (Y/n)?' Rin wondered, tapping the smiling figurines cheek.

'I basically touched his face now.' Rin thought with a blush, then looked over at the trio.

"Lukewarm, (Y/n)." He cleared his throat as the trio looked at him.

"Yes?" She asked as the other two sent Rin a glare for calling her a lukewarm.

"What is this?" He asked while showing them the figurine. Isagi and Bachira's eyes widened when they saw the item.

'A mini (Y/n)!' Bachira thought with stars in his eyes.

'So adorable!' Isagi's face turned redder.

"Oh... the JFU wants to test a first merch launch, and they picked me for it. It's just a prototype of what it will look like." (Y/n) explained, walking over to Rin and taking it our of his hand.

"Merch?! Of you?!" Bachira asked in excitement.

"Yeah... it's launching in two weeks." (Y/n) shrugged her shoulders, walking over to her shelf to put the item on it.

"So we- I mean, your fans will have the chance to own a mini you?!" Isagi asked with a huge smile and blush as (Y/n) turned to look at him.

"Basically."

Rin kept quiet as he stared at the figurine with wide eyes, also excited over these news.

'I will definitely buy one.' The three thought in determination.

"Tho, I was honored to be the first one, it would have been better if they picked a more popular player. I don't think mine will sell well, so I asked them to make only 15 of these." (Y/n) finished explaining, and the last part definitely left them deflated. 'ONLY 15?! How can I get one even?!' Bachira thought, already panicking that be won't be able to get his hands on one of the figurines.

'(Y/n), why would you do that?! How will I get my hands on one, when I have to fight against both your fangirls and the other players?!' Isagi gulped as anxiety took over his body.

'This lukewarm needs to work on his confidence, now I will have to start a blood bath.' Rin groaned.

"A-are you 3 alright?" (Y/n)'s worried voice interrupted their thoughts, and all 3 quickly nodded their heads.

"Of course we are!"

"Only 15?!" Reo and Barou exclaimed in disbelief as the trio explained the whole story from last night.

"What sort of confidence does he even have? Nagi, Reo, this is your fault." Otoya grumbled, earning side-glares from the two.

"How is this our fault? We didn't do anything." Nagi protested.

"Exactly that!" Yukimiya said, fixing his glasses.

"If you were good friends to (Y/n), you would have noticed he was in distress with his self-worth. Now, with me he would have not had these issues. I would have told (Y/n) everyday how wonderful and talented he is." The model said proudly, earning a scowl from Reo.

"Please shut up, show off. You are just mad (Y/n) doesn't like you."

"But Yukimiya does have a point." Karasu chimed in, glaring at Reo.

"Didn't you two basically abandon him during the 1st selection? Even during the 2nd one, Nagi, you basically acted like he didn't exist."

Barou pointed it out, which irritated the duo.

"You know nothing." Nagi said, glaring at the red-eyed boy.

"This is not the point now." Aryu clapped his hands, causing the rest to look at him.

"Aryu is right, we should focus on what's important." Kunigami added in.

"And that is, how do we get one of those figurines when there is only 15?"

The room fell silent as neither really knew how to answer that.

"Maybe we could try convincing (Y/n) that he should go for more figurines? Isagi, Barou, you two are the closest to him. Maybe you should try it." Kurona suggested as everyone looked at the duo. Both of them looked at each other, and then shook their heads.

"I don't think we should do that. It's his decision and I don't want him to feel bad about it." Isagi answered, Barou for the first time agreeing with something.

"Yeah... forcing him or convincing him will do us all more harm than good." Hiori added in.

"Well then, it's every man for himself. I will get my hand on one of those figurines." Karasu declared with a smirk.

"Not if I do first!" Bachira challenged back.

"Logically thinking, it's more likely that only one of us gets one... (Y/n) has many fans, so we are not competing just among each other anymore." Niko reminded them.

"Well, then I will be the one to get it." Rin said after a short pause, causing the rest to look at him weirdly.

"Now, why would you be the to get it?!" Otoya questioned.

"Because, I am the best one in this facility, therefore I deserve it more."

"Just because you are the best one, doesn't mean you deserve a figurine, Rin-chan~" Bachira said cheerfully.

"What?" Rin asked, irritated by the boy's remark.

"Bachira is right, if anything, someone who is close to (Y/n) should get the figurine. And that someone is me!" Chigiri finally spoke up, shocking everyone.

"What?! How are you the closest one with him?" Yukimiya remarked.

"We both braid each other's hair and talk for hours about the most random things-"

"So do I with (Y/n)." Aryu chimed in, which caused Chigiri to glare at him instead.

"Shut it. (Y/n) and I have spent so many hours training, we are the closest." Otoya added in, which drew Tokimitsu and Kunigami's attention.

"H-He does the same thing with me! Wh-which means I am pretty close with him, too!" Tokimitsu exclaimed.

"He is always there to help me with his skills, and even trains with me in the gym." Kunigami chimed in, causing a whole separate argument between them.

"This is ridiculous!" Reo sighed loudly, then pointed at himself and Nagi.

"Nagi and u have known (Y/n) for way longer than any of you have. We know everything there is to know about him."

This caused Barou and Isagi to roll their eyes.

"Yeah, and he trust us the most. He would be probably more happy for us to have a figurine than you guys-"

"Nagi, you and Reo literally turned your backs on him back in the beginning of this project. You have no leg to stand on." Isagi interrupted the albino, which made the duo tense up a little.

"And we apologized! He would vouch for us now!" Reo added in.

"None of you really deserve the figurine." Barou finally spoke up.

"(Y/n) and I have been partners since the beginning, we are the closest here. Especially after all the late night trainings." The king explained.

"But, you forget that (Y/n) has been chasing after me the whole time. Even during the 3rd selection, he always asked to train with me." Isagi added in proudly, drawing Rin's attention on him.

"Oh please. (Y/n) is probably too nice to tell you that you got boring. Why would the literal #2 of this facility go and seek out your assistance. I am the perfect choice. We especially got close during the 2nd selection when we would have dinner together after practice." The younger Itoshi explained, obviously mad that Isagi reminded him that (Y/n) always chased after him, never after Rin. The #1 player in Blue Lock.

"This is stupid. (Y/n) and I are obviously closer, our humor and passion to become better obviously bonds us the best." Karasu snorted.

"Karasu, no offense, but it's obvious that (Y/n) and I are closer. After all, he would come to talk to me about fashion choices."

As they argued, Hiori, who was standing next to Niko, spoke up as well.

"Now, I would be worthy of the doll too. After all, (Y/n) and I share similar homes, and we talk for hours about different video games."

"(Y/n) likes talking to me a out different sea animals. Even helps me with my braid sometimes. It's very nice of him." Kurona added in with a slight blush.

"Well, (Y/n) and I share a love for anime and manga. We would sometimes go to the monitor room and watch different animes on our phones. We even fell asleep there a few times." Niko admitted.

"So you are the reason he sometimes isn't in bed?!" Bachira yelled with a menacing smile.

"Niko, do you know how many nights I couldn't cuddle up to him while he slept?!"

"Bachira, that's weird!"

"What even-"

Hiori and Kurona said, staring at the bicolored boy. While everyone wad busy arguing, Gagamaru blinked at them a few times before walking out of the dining hall, an idea already brewing in his brain.

"Hmmm..."

2 weeks had passed, and the day of the merch launch finally happened. All the boys were anxiously waiting on their phones for the orders to start. They were all determined to get one of the figurines. They were so adorable, and captured the beauty of the striker perfectly. And finally, when the minute of the launch arrived, they quickly went to click on the 'order' option, only for them to be met with the most soul crushing sign.

'Sold out!' Read in big, red letters as if to mock the boys about their fail.

They expected something like this to happen, but it hurt the same.

Right now, they were all in the dining hall again, all depressed over losing the opportunity to get the (Y/n) figurine.

"I hate today." Reo said, resting his head on the table.

"I agree." Karasu and a few others nodded their heads as the door opened.

"Huh? Are you guys alright?" (Y/n)'s voice caused them to jump up and look at her.

"F-fine!" Isagi spoke up.

"We are great, just tired. And you? You seem pretty happy?" Karasu spoke up, noticing how less tense she was now.

"Oh? Ego-san just told me that the figurines of me sold out today, and they will do a relaunch in a month."

"Relaunch?! How many will it be this time?" Bachira asked as all eyes were on her.

"I don't know... maybe like 300 to 500, based on what Ego-san said." (Y/n)'s explanation caused them to sigh in relief a little. Finally they will have the chance to own one of those figurines.

"By the way, here, Gagamaru. As promised!" (Y/n) said, walking over to the goalkeeper, putting the prototype of her figurine on the table. The boy nodded quickly and slid his dinner to her as she sat across from him.

"Uhm... why are you giving Gagamaru that figurine?" Chigiri wondered.

"Oh? He promised to give me his dinner for a month in exchange for the figurine. His dinner happens to be my favorite dish!" (Y/n) explained cheerfully and went back to eating. She didn't register to cold looks and deathly glares Gagamaru was getting, but the boy didn't care. He just sat on his chair, smiling fondly at the figurine.

'Bastard!'

'That should have been me!!'

The group thought over and over, now hoping that the relaunch will happen as soon as possible.

so I’ve been trying to think of the best way to talk about Skuld’s fate for a while now and I think I’ve finally got it. My feelings about how she could be handled are a bit complicated (maybe even controversial? lol) but I hope I can make myself clear. This is essentially gonna be the post I point to whenever and if ever I need it later in the future. Thanks in advance if you read this!

If for whatever reason it’s confirmed that Skuld isn’t Subject χ and she gets together with Ephemer in canon (which I don’t believe will actually happen, but who knows), I do genuinely think there’d be something incredibly poetic about both of them leaving behind a legacy together.

Skuld as Subject χ is a super intriguing concept that I want to see get played out in canon, and even outside of that possibility, I would really love to just see her go on her own journey, have her own story where she can grapple with the events of khux in her own ways. But as someone who also happens to love her and Eph’s dynamic, I like to indulge in the possibility of them founding Scala together too.

Believe me when I say that I’m very skeptical of Skuld getting the credit and spotlight she deserves given the track record of how female characters are treated in this series. It would break my heart if Skuld got turned into an accessory or got shafted or worst case scenario, is used only to kickstart the Ephy lineage and nothing more outside of that. She deserves good, solid writing no matter what her fate is, I’m sure we can all agree on that at least.

And then there’s also the question of whether or not Nomura would ever establish a canon romantic relationship, and if he even should do that in the first place. I think it would be great, as long as it’s written in such a way that it doesn’t impede on the other types of relationships he’s already established. It could delve into some interesting new territory that can highlight the themes of kh, and make them even stronger and more profound. But you don’t absolutely need romance in order for that to be accomplished, ya feel?

Do I love Skuld and Eph together? Yes. Do I think they should be together (romantically) in canon? Not necessarily. You can both enjoy a ship AND recognize the nuances involved.

But anyway anywaaaaay, long disclaimers aside, these two characters have been through so much together…they witnessed two apocalypses. They’ve suffered the loss of a dear friend at their hands, along with their other friends as a result of horrible circumstances they had no control over. They stayed side by side as their home collapsed around and on them. But they also laughed together. They looked out for each other, stood up for each other. Encouraged and comforted and teased each other so they would smile.

From the very beginning, to the very end, they had each other over and over again. Clinging to hope with incredible resilience. From party members, to friends, to leaders. They’re both wonderful characters who I have no doubt would support each other throughout the rest of their lives, just as they always have.

I’ll be fine if a romance between them doesn’t become canon, in fact I’ll probably be pretty relieved. But I can’t deny that the idea of the two of them being entwined forever, bonded by the tragedies they’ve been through, yet also by all of their happy times and shared memories, is a beautiful thought to me.

Surviving to see the other side and building everything from the ground up again together, and seeing the legacy that follows their love, is a story worth telling, in my opinion. In the end, if that’s a story left to us fans to tell, that’s more than enough for me. We have so much to work with. Regardless of what Nomura and/or the rest of the writing team choose to do, I don’t need them to be a canon couple to enjoy the profound love and care they have for each other.

TL;DR - Whatever happens with Skuld, I’m down for the ride. As long as she’s present, period, I’m here for it. Just…please for the love of god, let her be written well. I miss her so much and I need all these years of loving her character to pay off

What's your opinion on Nomura saying he wants KH4 to be kind of like a reboot of the series? I'm personally a bit worried about what that means for the graphics and gameplay, but like, I'm probably always going to be mourning the loss of the old modeling style so I don't think I should be taken seriously on that front. Graphics change aside, it seems like most of the information we've gotten on KH4 boils down to "Yes it's in Tokyo" and "Guys it's not gonna be a crossover with TWEWY, Please Stop Asking". Really not sure what to make of it so far.

i really have no clue what he means by that... honestly i'm fine with the new style although i do see the concerns with kinda making it seem more generically anime prettyboy final fantasy-esque but like. we've only seen two characters so far and that was two and a half years ago and we already know they're planning on changing some things so who knows what the final product will look like. idk.

my one concern- and i say this as someone who personally likes simpler and more realistic designs, as well as like serious hardcore worldbuilding and dark stuff- is that kh will lose its weird, goofy, disney positivity charm. sora's design just needs slightly more color to it, nothing too drastic. the city of quadratum being hyperrealistic in a direct jarring contrast to everything else we've ever seen in the series is SO cool i just hope the final version has some unique charm to it. obviously i hope it's still kinda bleak bc i think that's the point of the story here but y'know? i hope they tell the story they're trying to tell while also making it feel magical in some way

see while i can't say i personally have any interest in the disney aspect of things (i understand that's what the series was supposed to be all along but me personally i'm in it for the original story side of things) i also never want kh to totally leave that dimension. i think they need to get better at implementing it into the story- akin to how it originally was in the first game, or in khdr, bc both of those were amazing. like prove to me that this disney crossover is the best way to tell your story bc i know you can do it. it shouldn't feel like two separate games, one of which can be entirely filtered out with almost no bearing on the plot

the other thing is like the collaboration with disney is a limitation- but it's a limitation that breeds creativity. if we let nomura do whatever he wanted he might run off the rails and make it too gritty. but having to keep the family-friendly positivity at the core honestly makes it way more interesting imo. and i think he knows that- i think he has a heartfelt story about connection and humanity and love and memories etc to tell and he's gonna tell it. i have faith in him (maybe not faith to write every single game's dialogue and scenario lol but like. in terms of general plot direction he knows what he's doing)

truthfully, as long as the series never stops being ultimately an uplifting tale of hope? i don't care what they do with it. i hope they keep adding dark and serious and weird stuff to it and i hope they keep coming back to the joyful refrain over and over again. that's the ideal story to me- one that takes you so, so low, but brings you back up at the end. that's what kh has been like all along and that's like the main draw imo

they've been leaning more into the possibility of sad endings without perfect resolutions lately (i mean i truthfully don't see how the khux crew is gonna reunite on this mortal plane without more ghost shenanigans.) but like. a bittersweet ending of fondly remembering someone lost to you is incredibly heartfelt and you can make peace with that. i like that more than the idea that you'll always get everything you want and things can always go back to how they were. i think that's what nomura was getting at with kh3, how the destiny trio can't get their innocent childhood back but that doesn't mean their bond is gone. it doesn't have to be a classic disney fairytale ending to be an uplifting one and honestly it hits my HEART. bittersweet ending supremacy. kh is about losing things and finding new things and being connected etc etc i'm repeating myself but i'm insane about this series and long story short as long as the love is there i'm not going to complain

if we're talking about kh4 specifically? really no idea what to make of it... the big question is as follows- is sora's predicament going to be resolved in this game or is that for another game. if it's for another game it's going to have to be a numerical kh5 and i kind of don't have confidence in the team to uh. um. finish more than one new numerical game at this point lol. plus just assuming there would be a gap period with other games in the middle there then sora would be away from home for a lonnnnng time. it could happen but it would require his best friends to reach him there too and get stuck and like oh man how is anyone getting home now. is the series ever gonna end

like maybe kh4 being a reboot would quite genuinely mean shifting the entire overall setting of the series to unreality for the time being. we've discussed the nature of the heart and human connection in this whimsical childhood fairytale world, now let's put these philosophical debates in the real adult world now! who knows. it honestly all depends on how much nomura thinks he has left in him. or if he does plan to retire whether he's gonna pass it off to someone else or just end it somewhere randomly. like truly we're getting kinda mixed messages here like simultaneously he's talking about retiring someday while also saying he's introducing a new phase to the series. ok but how long will that phase be bestie

His startingly blue eyes stared dully at the poor excuse of a house in front of him before he gripped the straps of his backpack and left.

Another day.

Another day of roaming around the streets of the city instead of going back to school to learn something worthwhile and trying to make ends meet.

His good for nothing drunkard father was completely passed out in the living room with the bottle of beer in his hand.

Instead of holding a pen and paper, he's holding a bottle of milk and some inane object he stole from a store and buried it in the confines of his rusty backpack.

The only consolation prize he got from this disgusting ordeal was being away from the cage he was in and the sharp claws of his own father for a few hours.

“Wait? Is that Kaiser?” A familiar voice reached his line of hearing from somewhere among the crowd.

“I think he is. Hey Kaiser! Kaiser!” One of the boys called out his name.

He blatantly ignored his classmates’ voices and disappeared from the crowd.

As he flipped to another page of the book he was reading, quick knocks from his bedroom door filled his ears.

“Alexis! Hurry up! You still need to help mom and dad in the lab downstairs for their new experiment! Bring the rest of the equipment to the lab!” Her sister’s impatient and commanding voice reached his line of hearing.

With a small sigh leaving his lips, he put a bookmark on the page of his book and closed it, returning it to its shelf carefully before he stood up from his chair.

“Alright. I’ll be down there in a sec!” He answered hastily before he heard the receding footsteps of his sister away from his room.

A deep sigh escaped from Ness’ lips as he stared blankly at the surroundings outside his windows before his gaze left and lingered on the book he put in the shelf a while ago.

For a moment, Ness wanted to get lost inside a place where everything was possible.

When all you need was a key to open the wonders and magic of a place with never-ending spellbinding beauty and mesmerizing worth of hopes and dreams in life.

It was the only period that Ness could blindly believe in the lucidity of his ideas and creativity and wiped out the glaring facts of the reality of his life.

His lips twitched before he looked away and left his room.

He hated the confines of this house where he needed to conform to the rules and logic of his family that didn’t made sense to him.

It didn’t made sense to him to have them push their ideas and ideals of what he should be and shouldn’t be thinking about.

The ball bounced back to him after he kicked it to the wall.

One of his hands had caught it effortlessly into his grasp and he slumped down on the ground, wincing slightly at the shred of pain that sent his nerves throbbing in every fiber of his being.

He was in a terrible luck today as his father decided to kicked him and punched the living daylights out of him earlier this day because he brought him the wrong brand of milk to him.

His right arm was already mutilated to the point that it was forming a deep, purplish bruise that was hiding underneath his black hoodie. However, pain seemed to be a usual thing for Kaiser as the hole of dull emptiness seemed to fill his entire being throughout the day.

As long as he had his ball with him, he could spend the whole day entertaining himself before he went back into the house where he’d probably find his father sleeping drunkenly on the couch or in the ground instead.

When Kaiser kicked the ball onto the wall and was about to catch it, a searing pain throbbed again on his right arm when he unconsciously raised it. This made him flinch and grimace at the unpleasant feeling, failing to catch the ball and fly past him.

“Ah, you should be careful! It almost hit me!” A young, boyish voice exclaimed somewhere around the lot which made Kaiser turn around and came face to face with a boy who had wide, expressive amethyst eyes and messy, brown hair.

The ball was situated perfectly under his heel like... he trapped it there...

Kaiser blinked owlishly and was almost impressed by the sight before a scowl was painted on his features.

He wasn’t easily impressed by strangers. Much less of a kid who screamed old money and probably had a silver spoon on his mouth.

“Then watch where you’re going.” He replied simply as he caught the ball easily in his grasp which made the other boy blink a few times at him before a wide smile inched across his lips.

“You play soccer too?” The boy asked in amazement, ignoring his last words.

Kaiser pursed his lips and turned his back on him. “Get lost kid. Or else you’ll get mugged here.” He replied coldly and didn’t wait for his reply as he left him standing there alone in the field.

Ness could feel the coldness seeping into his veins as he lay on the ground, the desperation and despair intertwining themselves at his very core as he realized that they might lose in this match.

Was no one capable of receiving his passes and shoot it inside the net?!

As he wallowed in self-despair and recriminations, a voice caught his attention and he found himself staring at a pair of cerulean irises and long, wavy sandy locks which danced across the breeze of the air.

“Do you believe in the impossible?”

Ness could only blink at him owlishly. “Huh?”

“Just now. The thought of giving up flashed in your mind. Am I wrong?”

“Eh...” A confused expression was dancing along his face as he didn’t immediately understand what the other was trying to say.

“That kind of thinking is a curse. Stupid scrub. The moment people believe things are impossible, they are programmed to give up. A useless survival mechanism. But that’s the thought process of the weak. While you protect your pathetic hide, you kill and seal off your potential...”

Ness listened to him in silence, trying to absorb his words in his frazzled mind and despairing soul.

“Sacrificing your talent in exchange for living a long and tedious life. Those trash who do that are the ones I hate the most.” The blond held a look of quiet disdain in his eyes as he watched the other players from the other side of the field.

“I’ll admit our opponents are good. But they’re only executing what is possible at a very high level. I don’t see a truly strong player among them. But you are different.”

He shot a glance at Ness again.

“Your dribbling... the timing of your passes... You were imagining plays one step ahead. But you didn’t have a partner who understood your ideas...”

Ness’ heart pounded erratically inside his chest at the implication of his words.

“With me... All of your ideas will become possible.”

Kaiser stared at him intently and offered his hand to him. “Get up. Let’s do this loser.”

“Ah...” Ness could only stare at him with a starstruck look on his face.

“Well?” Kaiser watched at him in silent anticipation.

He swallowed thickly as he finally decided. One of Ness’ hands had reached out for Kaiser’s offered hand and grasped it firmly.

“Okay.”

At that moment, Ness decided to trust him and let himself be guided in the light of Kaiser’s possibilities.

That said: Are you sure it matters?

Like, I don't remember that from the subtitled commentaries I've watched on the original R2 boxset that Bandai released, and I would tend to assume that whatever this is was part of a commentary that got an Official Translation, but... I genuinely don't think it's worth your energy to worry about, much less the effort it would take me to track down the specific line and translate it if needed.

It's always satisfying, of course, when a creator says something nice about a piece of our own headcanon. Especially if you feel like your ship isn't very popular in fandom, it can be a real feather in your cap to have a creator say, "Oh, yeah, that was the ship I hoped people would really like." And a Shipper On Deck, as TV Tropes puts it, can sometimes make for a better viewing experience overall.

But authorial intent isn't magic. There are so, so, SO many canonical ships out there where, despite the creative team's intentions, the pairing just doesn't have a lot of chemistry. Writing romance is also a specific skill, and not every writer has it: indeed, not every writer respects it enough to even put much effort in. For plenty of writers, simply telling us that Character X is dating Character Y is all they're willing to do, before they go right back to putting all the actual screen time and development into X's dubiously platonic relationship with Z...

Plus, don't let the occasional shipping manifesto fool you — ships don't begin with spreadsheets that track frequency and depth of interaction between characters. Ships begin with an undefinable gut feeling: sometimes the result of an interaction we saw on screen, but sometimes the result of an interaction we imagined in our own heads, based on how we think the characters would interact if they ever spoke. The manifestos are just post-hoc rationalizations. And you can't reason people out of something they didn't reason themselves into.

Anyone trying to use Word of God to convince other people to abandon a given ship (almost always in favor of their own preferred, "competing" ship) is engaging in a fool's errand. And probably being kind of a jerk, too.

So: there's the first... half of my answer, haha.

It's not easy, and it takes both time and a mental adjustment, but it is VERY worth your while to practice telling yourself, "It literally doesn't matter what the creator said." (This is especially true of ships that aren't The Default, but hardly limited to that.)

More specific to your particular case: ...what does "R2 episode director" even mean? I assume it doesn't mean Taniguchi Gorou. Are we talking about something Ohashi Yoshimitsu said? That's the only name I see credited for a substantial amount of episodes, and only in 2008 (13 total, about half of R2's count).

Like, I wouldn't give Taniguchi Gorou or Ichirou Ohkouchi power over which characters I ship either (they definitely can't make me like C.C./Lelouch as specifically portrayed in Lelouch of the Re;surrection), but at least I'd understand why they were being treated as authorities for Code Geass.

If we're listening to Ohashi, though, why stop there? Lots of people directed the odd episode here or there. Hiroyuki Yoshino and Nomura Yuuichi actually wrote some episodes, let's let them weigh in on which ships are "canon", too. Goodness.

...So I guess the answer to your question is, "I don't know off the top of my head; maybe, but if I were you, I wouldn't let that stop me."

Scanlation of Chapter 220, "See-Saw Game", just dropped! Chow time!

Thoughts under the cut. There will be two weeks between this release and Chapter 221, which will release in Japan on 7 June I believe.

I love this goofball. Can't start without saying that.

Anyway, what a chapter. It's very action orientated, and that speaks for itself: holy fuck Kaiser. But as usual, I have brain worms, so I'll share as is routine.

In one chapter, Kaiser collectively reminded the fandom why he's NG11, why he's been manmarked by another NG11 since the beginning of the match, and of the gap between him and the other players. No sweat for the 👑 Also, clear Predator Eyes in action, right? 🐱

It's an excellent play. He scored in spite of being pressed by two defenders, through the legs of another and past the goalkeeper. It got so close to Aiku, man must have feared for his future baby-making capacity 💀

Isagi's good. Kaiser is on his own level.

It's spelt out in the chapter: in the face of opposition from Aiku, Isagi did the rational thing and passed, forsaking a score on his own terms. In much worse circumstances, Kaiser believed in the impossible and scored. This is the fundamental difference in their ego and approach to football. I hope they revisit this theme in the next chapter.

It's going to be titled "Take Me" 👀 I'm dying to know who that refers to, especially if it ends up being shipbait. Ness? Isagi? Hiori? Who knows?

A shout out to our newly minted redhead. He gets clowned on, but I liked seeing him swap to a defensive role. Noodle legs, go! 🍜 It shows how well Ubers, and in particular the former U20s team members, can reforge themselves around new strategies and playstyles.

Also, Aiku is one of those captains with a coaching/affirmative leadership style. He endorses Sendou here, and Niko in the chapter before. Can't help but simp for the guy, even if he's a scumbag in how he treats women. 🐍

I don't have much more to add! Art-wise, it was glorious: Kaiser's goal is rendered vibrantly, from multiple perspectives. As usual, the reader gets a great sense of where everyone is, and their reaction. To the end, Ubers put up a good fight, and as mesmerised as you are by Kaiser, I really enjoy that the artist knows where the other players are in the context of the goal. Great spacial awareness, Nomura-sensei!

My favourite panel outside of His Excellency's is the one where half of Isagi's face is dissolving into puzzle pieces. It's more grotesque than it usually is, maybe showing how pissed off yet amazed he is by Kaiser. I love that Isagi hates him, but doesn't deny his talent. The best sports anime protagonist *pats head*

Random thoughts corner: Yukimiya didn't get much to do, but Lorenzo abandoning his mark is an indicator that he posed a significant threat to the goal. I'm kind of hoping he gets the next BM goal (if BM indeed win). I say him over Kunigami, because Kunigami HAS to get a goal against PXG (else we riot).

Speaking of, Kunigami is specifically mentioned to have vacated the goal area by Isagi. Wonder why? He's a goal poacher, so you'd think he'd be around somewhere... I'm kinda hoping he calls out Isagi for that ball steal last chapter, although that's my bias showing haha. In chp 219, Isagi's rationale for stealing was that Kunigami didn't have the capacity to evade the defenders. But Kunigami's levelled up his dribbling and speed since the Manshine match... I imagine he's nurturing some resentment in that little emo brain of his. Remember, he and Isagi are rivals to unseat Kaiser and become BM's lead striker in the NEL.

...just give us some Kunigami development. PLEASE.

Ness has done absolutely nothing but whinge since chapter 218. Kaiser just proved he doesn't need assists to score... in light of Ness's derailment, is it time for a substitute? manifesting that hiori sub c'mon

Last one: how many Ubers broke ranks this play? Sendou's a forward that ended up tackling Kaiser in the centre back lines. Lorenzo left his mark too. Now, arguably it was his only choice, in light of Yukimiya being unmarked and a valid threat to the goal, while Kaiser remained deep in defender territory, but nevertheless... will we see any remorse from Ubers? Any comment from the GOAT coach himself, Snuffy?

Last week, I predicted: Isagi will try to beat Aiku one-on-one, or maybe use Yukimiya as a decoy to do so. This is based on the recurring references to winning one-on-one duels being the key to beating Ubers. Also, Isagi’s got a hang up about passing near the goal, which he’s got to overcome at some point.

What I’m (and mostly everyone else) certain of is, Isagi’s not scoring the next goal. There wasn’t a peep out of Kaiser this chapter… maybe he’ll spring a surprise Kaiser Impact on Ubers while they’re busy fending off Isagi?

Actuality: Isagi passed, Yukimiya gets blocked by Lorenzo. Isagi himself was the decoy, and Kaiser manages to execute a brutal goal.

I got some of it! /copium Kaiser scoring was a foregone conclusion though, so not throwing everything away to go into fortune telling just yet.

Three more chapters for Hiori get subbed in. Otherwise, one of my hats is in danger... 🐑

Chapter 221 will be both teams reckoning with this goal. We'll likely get input from both Ubers and BM, and some sort of change in dynamic--be it a substitution or the coaches opting to play (reeeally doubt this will happen though, unless they get a nudge from Ego). In particular, I'm eager to see how Lorenzo and Hiori process this. Also, someone's going to yell at Isagi. Kunigami or Raichi are my guess.

Due to the move, watching what's going on in Palestine, and some other things, I haven't spoken much about Kingdom Hearts now that we have new news. I've been on the fence: do I want KH4 news (Strelitzia ;A; ) or do I want Missing Link news? We got Missing Link details! They are coming out little by little, but that trailer is amazing! Also, early Scala ad Caelum is gorgeous! (Also, hey there, Brain! I missed you!)

(Last two images are from KHUX, not Missing Link.) I'm eager to find out what changed about it, why this is an era that was forgotten, and why we eventually get the Scala that's all white and bright... with Daybreak Town underneath it. I have an unhealthy amount of screenshots for KHUX and KH3/ReMind's Scala ad Caelum. Including some screenshots of the Daybreak Town tower underwater. ;A;

(Yes, I did let Xehanort kick my ass a bit so I could get these!) When they gave us data greeting in ReMind, I knew I also had to make things to hurt myself... (I really do love all the Dandelion references and the fact that they used "Anger Unchained" in the bosses for Frozen world, Tangled world, annnd Dark Inferno in the Keyblade Graveyard. It is curious that this bright Scala has that "doomsday clock" recording what happened to Daybreak Town... (still terrified of what 13th Vessel shared regarding the textures on this monument.) I am in love with the Master of Masters, but most importantly, this is my daughter:

I really am going to need that Ven-meets-up-with-Lauriam/Marluxia in KH4, okay, Nomura...? I need the reunion. Oh this arc has a lot of potential- famous words said before a disaster, I know, but I still keep my hope! At least we won`t have Fires georg here to be annoying.”- Not unless you count his appearing in a tv for a scene or two anyway. 2) “IT`S PHELPS

NICE SEEING YOU HERE MY MAN, WHY THE SUIT, YOU GOING TO YOUR SISTER`S WEDDING OR SOMETHING?”- He needs the suit because it’s time for MHA Law & Order: Special Quirks Unit. 3) “Oh, they got the bastards? That`s unexpected, they technically didn`t do anything, there`s no evidence they helped koichi, besides the giant net to break his fall.”- I mean, they could technically hold them in custody, but honestly, it’d be a waste of their time and resources, especially sicne they’ve got the means to sic Makoto on Phelps via Koichi if needed.

Jesus, it seems you guys at least bothered to agree on a single story.“- You just know that Soga had them all agree on the cover story, but Tochi just had a massive case of stage fright and fumbled his lines. 5) “Now, how far do your “knowledge” about her not being a typical villain goes, I wonder…”- They at least have physical evidence that there was something fucking around in her brain and altering her cognitive processes, but that’s something that would have to be saved for a court of law, and Nomura and AFO aren’t planning on letting things progress that far 6) “And after that she fell into a coma, we aren`t sure when she`ll wake up.”-

She was pumped full of trigger pretty much all the time, there`s no way that hasn`t given her a few lingering side effects.”- Pop not only needed immediate surgery, but also immediate protection, especially with Nomura’s declaration of war fresh on Koichi’s mind. They wanted her stabilised, but also put in a position where It wouldn’t be easy for Nomura to reach her and make Pop have a ‘tragic accident’ during the surgery. 11) “Phelps please, you know where your brother-in-law is, don`t be stupid, you don`t think he`s at home right now? I bet he didn`t even went to that secret warehouse, he`s probably on his bed as we speak.”- He’s presently training himself for playing Sniper Elite, IRL version 12) “Yeah, no need to bullshit him with things like “I don`t know who you`re talking about”, he knows he was involved, he always is, especially when it comes to Pop.

Being direct here is the best option, Koichi is busy hunting his hunter.”- It might be the worst possible spokesperson, but Soga is making the good points to be made about the vigilantes’ involvement in this case right now. 13) “For fuck`s sake Phelps, don`t get started with that crap, you let him run around doing as he pleases for two years, you know he is innocent, and if you really wanted to talk to him you`d ask your sister for his number.”- One way I see this is Phelps being concerned for Koichi’s well-being, wanting to have him in police custody so he doesn’t put himself in harm’s way between a dangerous unknown villain and the efforts of the police and the heroes to counteract this threat. 14) “The Muscle, yeah I agree.

Because he surely as fuck ain`t the brains.”- Also a nice acknowledgement that Koichi has now far outstripped the trio he initially struggled to fight against in chapter 1, and is now capable of being an independent vigilante on the streets if he needed to, present crisis notwithstanding. 15) “What? Like, four heroes? Five at most? Phelps, you are talking like Koichi personally threw a bus full of orphans into a volcano, chill dude.

Also, now we suddenly have a body count for Pop`s acts? Suddenly it wasn`t just a bunch of harmed civilians, now she actually killed someone? How convenient.”- I think Phelps was trying to guilt-trip Soga into giving up Koichi location by implying the damage done was far more deadly and serious than we’ve witnessed, only for it to fall flat because Soga’s unphased by that accusation and instead deftly turns it around on him. 16) “I do agree but shut the fuck up Soga, go talk like that to him when you survive a pointblank shot with a rubber bullet.”- Soga speaks truth, which is a good thing, but then again, it’s Soga speaking the blunt truth, which is bad. 17) “Yeah it was him, as we can see by Phelps` pissed-off face.

But I`m still surprised that they haven`t actually met, I would think that taking over Knuckle`s operation would require him to establish contact with his old assets, just to make sure they are okay with him when he needs their help.”- I’m guessing Soga’s distrust of the authorities extended to even the contacts Knuckle had on the inside, not to mention Tanuma’s department wasn’t directly linked to pop’s villain assault at the time, so he wasn’t a way ‘in’ for them during that situation. 18) “yeah yeah, get a room you two, we are here for business, just let him go already since you don`t have anything on him.”- I have to wonder what Soga’s future is after all this; if he’ll step into the role of a younger vigilante Knuckles for good or if he’ll wind up doing something else instead. 19) “Oh we`re gonna use some metaphor now, I see.

But you know Knuckles, there wouldn`t be holes in your socks if you didn`t bought cheap-ass socks.”- He needed to save up for all the back-alley drugs, equipment and improvised weaponry he bought instead.

20) “tthe fuck kinda metaphor was that knuckles my guy”- I dunno, it does kinda make sense. People ignore the need to replace what they already have if they can cover up the ‘holes’ or imperfections in the current possession so it all looks fine at a glance, but that doesn’t chance the fact that there’s still a hole there and it’s continually getting worse and worse underneath from all the wear and strain until you start getting a new hole torn into the cover-up…and there’s only so many socks you can wear before you need to face the root of the problem head-on.

Still thinking about Subject X. Talking about spoiler stuff for Dark Road under the cut.

tl;dr, Given Nomura’s track record, the ‘Skuld is Subject X’ theory isn’t off the table yet.

So between the Dark Road finale and Nomura’s interview about it, the theory’s looking...pretty bleak.

The scene in Dark Road allows for some wiggle room, but the interview definitely has implications. And from a story perspective, this would still make sense; Skuld’s pod could’ve easily not taken off, same as Ephemer’s, and Ava’s still a justifiable option for Subject X.

HOWEVER. Let it be known that I Do Not Trust Nomura. I have been stuck in Kingdom Hearts Hell since 2005 and have seen things. And I know this could be exactly what Nomura’s making it sound like--because that’s happened before--but Nomura could still be misleading us--because that’s happened before too.

(I keep thinking about the interview--somewhere around when KHII came out, I think?--where someone was asking about Namine, and how Nomura had previously said there was no connection between her and Kairi, and why the change when KHII came out, and Nomura saying something along the lines of, “I needed to keep it a secret for the sake of the story. That is to say, I lied.” But I CANNOT FIND THE INTERVIEW EVER, so if someone CAN find it, please reblog with a link.)

Anyway. Nomura has been surprisingly cagey about what happened to Skuld, given that we know where everyone else from the UX crew ended up. Presumably, this is to keep up suspense about who is Subject X. There are very few options overall for who it could be; those are:

Skuld. Up until this point was probably the leading option for the theory. Subject X was stated in the KH3 secret reports to be about 15--which would match up with Skuld’s presumed age--and in Lea’s character file to have black hair. In addition, her memories amount to four friends and a key, and she says the familiar “May my heart be my guiding key” at the end of her own secret report. All of this lines up pretty perfectly with Skuld. In addition, there’s also the ‘sun-moon-stars’ motif she’d have going on with Lea and Isa--and notably, she’s the only one of the options that has that built-in trio connection.

Ava. Still a viable option, even if there are some things that don’t line up quite as well. Ava could easily have black hair, since we never see her without her mask and robes; 15 seems a bit young for her, but it’s still possible; and Subject X’s memories would still line up with Ava’s. Like with Skuld, she’s also the only one of her respective group who we don’t know what happened to. Luxu would also have a pretty personal motivation to free her (though considering that he also seemed to want to help the Dandelions pretty badly, there’s plenty of justification for him to free Skuld, too).

Strelitzia. Shakier, given both her appearance in the KHIV trailer and the fact that not all the details line up, but still technically a possibility. Nomura’s been known to retcon things before, and Subject X could’ve technically ended up in Quadratum after Luxu freed her. That said, this one I feel like should probably be put aside for now, given that there are other options that work better.

A completely new character. Not really an exciting option, but still a possible one. I could see Nomura doing this just to throw people off--maybe it’d be a character from Quadratum! (Or another Player reincarnation...) Still, this is less fulfilling from a character standpoint, since the amount of mystery built up would imply this is a character we already know, so while possible, it feels less likely.

Basically, what all this means is that there are technically only four options available, and only really two that make a whole lot of sense. Logically, Nomura would want to keep information about what happened to those two specifically hidden if he wanted to keep up suspense for the mystery.

Which kind of begs the question: why would we find out specifically what happens to Skuld in Missing-Link if we haven’t had the Subject X reveal yet? That would defeat the whole point of keeping what happened to her a secret (unless, of course, there’s some weird twist--like more reincarnation nonsense).

Next thing: Nomura might be willing to lie to keep a plot twist a secret, but he doesn’t necessarily have to. As a writer, you kind of learn how to misdirect people in order to keep a twist...well, a twist. And the longer you do it, the better you get (theoretically) at handling that misdirection. We’ve seen this misdirection quite a bit recently. In UX, when Lauriam showed up, lots of people thought he was Strelitzia’s killer because of his past as Marluxia. Then Brain had his virus speech, which lined up with what Luxu said in the KHIII secret reports about a virus infiltrating the program, leading everyone to think he was the killer. And then Nomura tricked us all with Playernort; the scenes chosen still largely work, because the blue-robed figure was in most of the beginning ones, but given the context, it was easy to direct our eye to Xehanort instead.

So let’s talk a little about misdirection and Nomura’s quote up there. The quote says:

“Xehanort appears with a figure who we assume to be his mother. Is that...Skuld?

Nomura: That is incorrect. However, she is related to Skuld in some way. The next title, Missing-Link, will have “bloodlines” as one of the story's main points.”

“But Cori,” you say, “this was obviously just written this way because he wants to avoid revealing too much about Missing-Link. It’s clear from context that Skuld’s probably that woman’s great-grandma or predecessor of some sort.” To which I say--yeah, that’s totally possible. Nomura really could just be trying to answer the question in a way that avoids saying too much about the stuff in Missing-Link.

However. I’m also looking at this from a writer’s perspective. And I know that the main reason you’d do something like this is if the answer isn’t already obvious. The obvious answer here is “Skuld is Xehanort’s ancestor,” but since when has Nomura ever liked using the obvious answer? The obvious answer to “who killed Strelitzia?” really seemed like it was Brain for a while, both given his speech and his general suspiciousness, and look how that turned out. While “bloodlines” obviously implies a blood relation, it could be a relation to a sibling or cousin--or Nomura could have Skuld’s heart connected with the woman/woman’s ancestor, given how much that technically pops up. (Technically, the “bloodlines” stuff could be a non sequitur, but I wouldn’t really be willing to bet on that.)

The interview itself lends support both ways; Nomura pretty clearly answers that the blue robed figure is the Player, but he also holds back on talking about Eraqus’s blood relations (which also seems to have an obvious answer, which makes me...suspicious).

Anyway. The strong evidence for Skuld being Subject X hasn’t really gone away, and this could easily be Nomura misdirecting us so that he could maybe catch us off guard later with a reveal. That doesn’t discount the idea from being wrong; there’s plenty of evidence for Ava being Subject X, too, and the “Nomura doesn’t like going for the obvious choice” thing could easily work in reference to her. But I don’t think I’m going to give up on the theory until I officially see Skuld onscreen again.

It felt like a dream to Rin that he didn't hear of or see Sae for 5 months. No mention of him on the news, the other players, or magazines. It was heaven for Rin, but all good things have to end somehow. And today it was the turn for Rin to remember the cruel reality of his brother being in the same facility as him. And, truthfully, it would have been more bearable if Sae minded his business and wasn't hogging all of (Y/n)'s attention right now!

"Rin..." The said boy turned to look at Karasu, who was resting his head on the table, glaring at the older Itoshi's back.

"What?"

"I will be kind enough to warn you now, your brother will be dead meat by the end of his stay here."

"Whose genius idea was it to host Re Al, again? This is hell." Otoya added in, narrowing his eyes as Yukimiya kept quiet. He was pissed just like the other three were, but he needed to keep quiet. He didn't want to have an outburst in front of (Y/n). Speaking of her, where was she? Well, (Y/n) was occupied with catering to Sae and whatever his needs were. The JFA did hold him to a certain standard, so someone making sure his needs were met was expected by the Blue Lock team. But why did (Y/n) have to be that someone?! She was their manager!

"I am tired to this. Can I just go and punch him?" Otoya asked as he looked at Rin for approval.

"Make sure to knock his teeth out." Rin narrowed his eyes as Sae moved closer to the girl, who was busy explaining something to the redhead.

"Don't do that. You will make (Y/n) mad." Karasu groaned, looking away from the scene.

"But-"

"Karasu is right, Otoya. Sae might use that as a way to hog even more time with her." Came Yukimiya's response.

"Sae-san, you really aren't listening, are you?" The group of four turned to look at the said boy and (Y/n), who had an annoyed look on her face.

'Adorable!' Otoya thought.

'Like an angel!'

'Can she look at me like that?! God, please.' Yukimiya and Karasu's thoughts followed after. Rin started blushing himself, not paying attention to Sae moving closer to her to look at some note she made. That was until Sae sent a small glance at Rin, his face decorated with a satisfied smirk.

'Jerk bastard of a brother!! This is war now!'

"(Y/n) this and (Y/n) that. Ahh.... when are Re Al leaving again? Why do I have to cater to Sae-san's every need?" The girl groaned as she held a basked of freshly folded laundry. Not just any laundry, but Sae's. He was training with his team so she had to finish some arrangements for him.

"(Y/n)!! Where were you?! We need your help!" The girl jumped in surprise and turned to look at some of the Blue Lock players running towards her.

"Bachira, Chigiri, Isagi? What did you three need? Also, you have a substitute manager for now?"

"It's hell! (Y/n), we need you back! The manager mixed up my shampoo with Nagi's, now my hair smells like wood." Chigiri whined, hugging the girl tightly around her shoulders. Isagi nodded, chiming in as well.

"And it's boring without you, too. You always make training more fun."

"And you don't mind feeding me. I miss that." Bachir added in as he and Isagi moved closer to her.

"Please come back."

(Y/n) blushed a little and laughed in amusement, trying to get Chigiri's hold off of her.

"You guys are being a little too dramatic. I will be back soon. After all, Re Al won't be staying here for too long."

"I hope so. They got annoying." Isagi rolled his eyes as Chigiri let her go, pouting a little.

'I lied. It's only Sae who is annoying."

"Can't you at least hang out with us now?" They turned their attention to Bachira.

"After all, you aren't doing anything with Sae now."

"Hey, yeah. You can join us now!" Chigiri said with star eyes.

"Sorry, you three. I need to bring Sae-san his laundry."

"What?! He can do it-"

"Ah, (Y/n). There you are. I need your help with something." Isagi got interrupted by Sae's voice echoing down the hallway. (Y/n) immediately looked away from the trio and back at Sae, nodding her head.

"Sure. Sorry, I need to go now." Giving them an apologetic smile, (Y/n) turned and walked to where Sae was. The trio felt deflated for a moment, but their anger ignited as Sae discreetly sent them a satisfied look.

'Sucks to suck.' What what that look read.

'Bastar!!'

'(Y/n) is my manager! Not yours!'

'Stupid Itoshi!!'

"Was it necessary for me to eat with you?" (Y/n) questioned as she took a bite from her salmon. Sae stopped eating for a moment. The boy looked around for a bit, as if in deep thoughts before nodding his head.

"Of course."

Inwardly, (Y/n) groaned as she started eating her food again. It was silent for a bit as she kept on looking at her food, but when she looked up, she felt like screaming in fear.

'Does he hate me or something? The glare is frightening.' (Y/n) thought, looking down at her food again. It was true, Sae was glaring in her direction, but not at her. He was glaring at two peers of his from Re Al, as he did notice them trying to walk up to their table.

'Nobody is interrupting my lunch with her.' The boy thought, sighing in relief as the two teammates finally backed away. Sae returned to eating his food, ignoring the glares he was receiving from the players of the Blue Lock team.

'This isn't fair! I was supposed to eat with her tonight!' Hiori thought. A gloomy aura had surrounded Niko, who was glancing at them from time to time. Barou was the most frustrated of the bunch, nearly breaking his knife in half.

'That reheaded bastard.'

'This is just a slap in the face. I wanted to eat with her. Why him and not me? I have red hair, too... kind of.' Kurona thought, putting his head on the table. Aryu kept on huffing from time to time, trying to ignore the jealousy he was feeling. It was, in his words, not stylish to feel it.

'Stupid Itoshi.'

'Is it because he is a pro that (Y/n) hangs out with him more now?' Tokimitsu gulped a little. Kunigami was gloomier than usual.

"Hmmm... I lost my appetite..." Gagamru pouted, playing with his food as he stared at (Y/n).

"Reeooo." Nagi groaned, his eyes never leaving the duo. The said boy, who was beyond annoyed by now, sharply looked at the albino.

"What, Nagi?"

"Do you know people who can make someone disappear?"

"I wish I did..."

"Hmmm? You have food there." The group that was present watched in shock as Sae took a napkin and removed some of the food that was near (Y/n)'s lips.

"T-thanks." The girl said, blushing from the embarrassment.

"It's nothing." Although he sounded bored, Sae really enjoyed the view.

'Losers.' The redhead thought, feeling their glares even more.

'This is war!'

'Why him?! Why not me?!'

Sae eventually learned what sort of annoyance the Blue Lock team felt as he watched his captain, Luna and (Y/n) interact. The older was giving her his usual nonchalant smile as the girl was clearly flustered. He kept his annoyance in for a good 5 minutes.

"Thanks again for the help, (Y/n)."

"Ahm... No-no need to thank me, Luna-san! I will gladly help you out with anything-"

(Y/n) let out a startled gasp as Sae grabbed her wrist and dragged her away.

"Come. I need your help with something."

"You just said you didn't need anymore-"

"I lied." Sae shrugged, keeping up his cool act.

"You Itoshis are confusing."

Luna's laugh was heard from behind them, already understanding what was going on.

please let us know your thoughts on the kh pilot 👀

Alright! I made sure to give it a good share of shots, rewatches from last night and just recently too, just so I can get a solid lens upon it.

Keep in mind that for the pilot none of this will have any jabs at the animation. Its pilot material, the atmosphere on the other hand is what will keep my attention on it.

OKAY SO.

I’m genuinely on the fence about it. One thing I do enjoy is the extension of banter, but that also plays into a thought of being less serious so to speak. One of KH’s strong points to me is how it can balance a lethal atmosphere with the hodgepodge it made in the current day with a Disney/FF-Esque bowl. I do understand how this facet can’t be properly translated over to the big screen on the other hand. (Doubly so considering its age, I ain’t gonna be a harsh judge on that.)

Going over it moreso, I’m not exactly the biggest fan of much of the dialogue within the pilot. At least when it comes to how they fill in the smaller moments outside of the more memorable talks. Like hey, I enjoyed that bit of Goofy talking to Sora at the ship. Then there’s bits like Jiminy’s narration I really enjoyed listening to firsthand. Also Riku was a bit too silly for my taste. Not to say he’d be an absolute stick in the mud, but that was a lot more zany then I normally like from him.

Though, that one line with him and Goofy was golden. LMAO. So there was a lot of hit and miss.

On another note! What really intrigued me moreso above all else is in the pilot would be the extra emphasis upon heroism, what it means and its overall importance. There’s a couple of key points that I’ve seen in the main series itself come to reflect on this more in the recent day. So to see this was one of the core concepts draws a highly intrigued note to me. As some examples here, both from the game and a lil nomura interview.

Naturally we have to take the MoM as a unreliable narrator on this one.

So let’s reflect this to what Jiminy talks about in the pilot.

“Around these parts, heroes are found in all sorts of places, from Olympus, to Wonderland. A hero might be a prince like Aladdin, or only boy like Peter Pan. Each world has its own hero. But in this story, a very special one was needed, to defend all the worlds of the magic kingdom.” - Jiminy, KH pilot.

I always found the fact that the MoM talking on this concept, when no one ever mentioned heroism to take note of that. So to see this old pilot ring a note on that is very intriguing to me. (I’ll find that other interview bit in due time, buuuut have this in the meantime.)

So in short. To see how the future of the series if dabbling back to old core concepts, refining and playing around with them as they see fit is very good in my book. The LOST MASTERS saga seems prepared to truly draw on a lot of backburner concepts, evolve them and deliver them into a whole new sphere with the incoming cast joining Sora and Co’s long journey.

AND DAMN RIGHT I’M HYPED FOR THAT.

But all in all I hope this answers your question. Above all else, I can live without KH having an animated series. I much more prefer to see the games push on and watch many people form the story through this particular medium.
